‘Our Comenius Friends’ - Poland
„Listen! Children are talking!” project is
extremely popular amongst students of the
Secondary School No. 9 in Bialystok. Last year
we engaged our students and teachers in great number of activities connected
with the project. All the actions taken had a great impact on personality and
interests’ development of everybody participating in the project. The students
were expressing their needs, desires and dreams via various techniques. They
also improved their technical and linguistic abilities. We had a chance to find
out more about culture, tradition and customs of the counties participating in
the project.
We brought the following actions off:
1. We conducted the competition for the project’s logo
and we chose the best one.
2. We conducted the competition for the model of „Dream
City” . We created several maquettes we used then to make Power Point presentations.
3. We
conducted the art competition „Peace in the world”. The winning project of our school student was copied
on wall in each of schools participating in the project
4. We conducted the survey connected with students’
dreams and we analysed its results
5. Our students keep in touch with students from schools participating in the
Project via the internet
6. While our partners were
visiting Poland we presented:
· ‘Red Riding Hood’ – a play in
English
· Eco-fashion show
· Dance show: polonaise, waltz,
tango, rumba, cha-cha
· accordion performance

dance polonaise and to sing popular Polish song ‘Stokrotka’ (Daisy).

The interview with Comenius Partners during the
meeting in Poland
The students from our class take part in journalist
and computer project. The main purpose of this project is to find out as much
as possible about the practical part of journalist’s profession and to develop
our humanistic and computer skills. We are very happy we can participate in
Comenius project and talk to you.
What do you
think of Comenius project, its assumptions and leitmotiv?
In our opinion Comenius project is great. It enables
us to exchange our experience with teachers from other European countries, to
improve our skills by doing something new. Our students broaden their knowledge
about countries participating in the project, their customs, cultures and they
can make new friends, as we do.
In what way
the project is accomplished in your country?
After meeting we sit together and share the duties. We
include our students into this work.
What do you
like most in Poland?
The people in Poland are very nice, the food is tasty,
especially the potatoes. We’ve noticed a lot of buildings proving the fact that
Poland develops intensely. We were surprised with that. Everybody here smiles
and looks happy.
What do you
think about Bialystok?
Everybody is friendly and it’s green everywhere. It’s
a very nice place.
What do you
think about our educational system?
We think students like it. They get on well with
teachers. Your students are better than ours and they care more about their
education than our students do.
How do you
feel among gymnasium students of our school?
We like the way students respect their teachers. When
we enter the classroom everybody stands up. You’re aware of everything and
you’re not into stupid jokes. What is more, you give a lot from yourselves, so
we are also trying not to let you down and we were doing our best when you were
teaching us Polish song.
How would you
sum your visit in Poland up?
We love Poland. We were given here so many
attractions. Just fantastic!
Thank you for
your answers. It was really nice to meet you.
Thank you.
